Delta Region
#1 NVDA 0.00%↑ vs. #8 MSTR 0.00%↑
Both NVDA and MSTR have traded in a tight range in recent months. One is coupled to an enigmatic currency, the other an enigmatic technology, both with bubble allegations. With NVDA’s IV low and a SVS also low, the premium-selling aspect gives the heavy hitter a leg up over MSTR’s short squeeze potential. The king stay the king.
#5 VZ 0.00%↑ vs. #4 BAC 0.00%↑
Verizon’s up 21% year to date, but 17 of 29 brokerages are on the sideline with “hold” ratings. If analysts change their tune, it could keep the wind at VZ’s back.
#11 SOFI 0.00%↑ vs. #3 ORCL 0.00%↑
Ignoring market caps and breadth for a second, two techish stocks beaten down into “oversold” territory. I’m riding with SoFi off the SI/F ratio.
#2 AMZN 0.00%↑ vs. #7 SLB 0.00%↑
If you ignored the names and just looked at the charts, you’d like SLB’s better. The three-month prognosis of oil is a major overhang though.
Gamma Region
#1 AAPL 0.00%↑ vs. #9 RKLB 0.00%↑
Really watching $250 for AAPL. Rocket Lab just won a major contract, and there could be some Neutron tailwinds coming down the pipeline. It’s a risk, but there’s a lot to like about Rocket Lab right now.
#12 HL 0.00%↑ #4 AMD 0.00%↑
$200 could be a pivot point for AMD. But HL keeps sliding. There’s plenty of room to run between AMD’s double top and where its at now. Can see the stock living there, while with Hecla, who knows? Going with the known commodity here.
#6 CMCSA 0.00%↑ #3 MU 0.00%↑
Trying not to be a prisoner to the moment here with Micron’s 3.8% post-earnings drawdown on Thursday. MU worked off its session lows, while Comcast’s price action has been rather ho-hum.
#2 AVGO 0.00%↑ vs. #10 CPNG 0.00%↑
Broadcom has some work to do to get rid of those downtrends. Coupang has worked off its bottom, but how much room does it have to run?
Theta Region
#16 ASTS 0.00%↑ vs. #9 PCG 0.00%↑
Cinderella story ASTS with its eyes to the stars vs. old world utility. Only in March, baby! AST has the short squeeze potential still, and could find itself back above $100. But if you think this volatility could be two steps forward, one step backward, take PCG and sleep at night. That’s what I’m doing.
#5 PFE 0.00%↑ vs. #13 NCLH 0.00%↑
Cruise stock NCLH has held $19 since last week, a win in my book. With better contrarian potential, that’s all I need to see to ride this 13 seed into the Sweet 16.
#6 FCX 0.00%↑ vs. #14 AAL 0.00%↑
All in on the American dip. It’s not a great long long-term play, but by the summer, I can see the stock around $15. FCX just breached its 200-day moving average on Thursday, too.
#2 TSLA 0.00%↑ vs. #10 HBAN 0.00%↑
If Tesla gets robotaxi approval from the EU, that could make the stock revert to its old growth-name days. Does HBAN have a catalyst like that looming, beyond the known-unknown of earnings? I’m buying potentially good news for Tesla in the summer.
Vega Region
#1 MSFT 0.00%↑ vs. #9 CCL 0.00%↑
Can’t have two cruise stocks in the Sweet 16. Microsoft prevails.
#12 PINS 0.00%↑ vs. #4 INTC 0.00%↑
PINS has a Schaeffer’s Volatility Index (SVI) and Volatility Scorecard (SVS) that make it a better fit from an options standpoint. When in doubt, cheaper options prevail.
#11 HPQ 0.00%↑ vs. #3 PLTR 0.00%↑
HPQ looks good on paper, but what if this is it? Trading in a tight range, no real substantive price action. Palantir’s chart also leaves a lot to be desired, but going with Palantir. Don’t feel great about it (fitting, for them).
#2 XOM 0.00%↑ vs. #10 HPE 0.00%↑
XOM has been a darling during the oil surge, but the RSI is starting to curl upward. HPE is stuck in a pretty lengthy channel. Maybe XOM pulls back, but its a pump fake and there’s a next leg higher that’s still more profitable than anything HPE does. There, just had to talk it out in my head.
